We live in a world of being bombarded by sound bytes and 280 character tweets and short Facebook posts. Anything longer requires too much time and attention.
I prefer reading things with deeper quality, even if it's longer. I dive deep. I do not skim the shallow surface of wide and scattered.
But then, I rarely fit in the common boxes of humanity.
I was thinking of re-starting this blog, and of sending it out in a way that also offered interactivity rather than just one-way communication, but have been informed that I simply ramble too much, write too much, go too long.....
Oh but people WANT to read what I write, if I just keep it much much much MUCH shorter.
I don't write in sound bytes or 280 character tweets. I dive deep. And other rabbis dive deep. The emails I read written by other rabbis contain substance, and substance takes words, not sound bytes. We have to explain things, give context.
And we wonder why ADD is on the rise? Because no one HAS to focus for long these days. And clearly, no one wants to.
So, I am closing up my revisited plans of writing and emailing it out. I can't reduce my writing to sound bytes.
